Burslem Cricket Club to build new changing rooms

Staffordshire side Burslem Cricket Club is to commence work on extending its clubhouse and create new changing rooms after plans were given the go-ahead by Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

The North Staffordshire & South Cheshire League (NSSC) Premier Division outfit submitted an application which asked to erect a single storey extension to “form new changing rooms” in January with permission being granted for this last month.

Within the planning application, a consultation with Sport England said it raised no objection to the plans while a planning officer’s report recommended them for approval, concluding: “The proposal is considered to be acceptable in terms of design, amenity and highway safety and would deliver sustainable development in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework.”

Planning documents show where the extension will be

On Wednesday, Burslem Cricket Club stated: “We’ve today received the go ahead to extend the clubhouse to accommodate new changing rooms…the builders start on Monday.

“We should be ready for when the cricket starts.”

The club finished second in NSSC Division 1 last season meaning they were promoted to the Premier Division for the 2020 campaign.
