Signed Heaney glove fetches over £300 for NHS

Number one Stoke boxer Nathan Heaney’s signed glove has been auctioned off for more than £300 – money that will go to the NHS as it continues to fight Covid-19.

The 31-year-old donated the glove to the Stoke City Community Trust who then put the item in and online auction that lasted until Friday evening.

The Trust announced that the winner had bid £310 for the prize.

Heaney, who is undefeated in all ten of his professional boxing bouts, promised that this winner would also receive a personally signed programme as a thank you for their generosity.

Heaney described the amount raised as “unbelievable”

“When a glove you signed raises £310 for charity… unbelievable,” he stated.

“I can’t thank everyone who bid on it enough, and particularly the person who won it.”

A spokesperson for the Stoke City Community Trust said: “Well, what can we say to Nathan Heaney? Thank you!

“Nathan has helped us raise £310 for the University Hospitals of North Midlands Charity by donating his signed glove. Thank you.”
